Everyday I wonder if she’s on to me
I met a girl and it’s like perfect harmony
But every time she speaks it’s like a riddle
I like her so I meet her in the middle

So I go up, down, one ear to the ground,
trying to predict what’s next
And if I don’t speak first maybe it’ll work
Maybe we could just have sex
And she’s all mad now
Someone tell me how
I can turn this thing around
and I know that this is just another riddle


And she’s crying for the dog in the commercial
And I say I bet he killed it in rehearsals
And I’m laughing in my head
But I want her in my bed
So I find a way to meet her in the middle

She tells me bout her roommate’s cousin’s neighbor’s band
I’d rather meet a stranger in an unmarked van
But I tell her that I’d love to go on Friday
And I hope that there’s an earthquake while we’re driving

So I go left, right, dodging every fight,
Trying to predict her thoughts
And if I complain less
Always make the bed
Maybe she would be impressed
Cause when we slow down
lying on the couch
look into each other’s eyes
I know the way to happiness is simple

We argue and I tell her she’s confusing
And I’m winning but it still feels like I’m losing
And it doesn’t make much sense
All the stupid things I said
But she finds a way to meet me in the middle

I buy another dinner that I can’t afford
I could win the girlfriend of the year award
We’re chilling and then suddenly she’s stressing
Why can’t we just skip to the undressing


I only had one towel when I met her
And I’m counting all the ways she makes me better
And I love her ‘cause I know
That I’m difficult to hold
And she always find a way to solve the riddle
